Last week, we were happy to celebrate commencement for our 2024 graduates! The MCBL had 4 students walk, Paige Morris, Jessica Meechan, Riley Smart and Austin Ricci. We’re sad to see them move on to greener pastures, but overjoyed to have Austin staying with us as he pursues his Ph.D.

Over this past weekend, we attended our first ever conference in Bend, Oregon as a lab group! Our abstract was selected for the President’s Cup competition and Grace delivered an outstanding thematic presentation explaining our novel approach to distinguish myosin heavy chain isoform during single muscle fiber dissection in humans. Great job, Grace!

Snapped a recent picture of our complete lab group (minus Dr. Callahan) at one of our most recent lab meetings! We discussed the procedures and events that are currently happening in the lab as well as some housekeeping items. More updates to come!

Construction in the new lab is nearly complete. We are staffing up, recruiting graduate students and ordering equipment. Very exciting times for the group. Watch this space for new studies, information and opportunities!

Here’s where you’ll find the latest on studies and developments at the Muscle Cellular Physiology Laboratory at the University of Oregon. Much like the laboratory space, this is a work in progress and always will be; we’ll just get more productive as we go!
